Edinburgh, Newcastle Upon Tyne & Back To L'boro...

On our way back to L'boro, we took the road to Edinburgh. Visited Edinburgh Castle and the town area. On the way, passed through the English - Scottish border. Then we went to Newcastle, to see the icon of  England, The Angel of the North. But sadly, as we arrived in Newcastle just before sunset, it was totally dark and there was no light at the site. If it was an icon, they should have put some lighting there. We had dinner there, and luckily the owner of the kebab shop was someone who comes from the same town as Usman. He bought us dinner - 2 mixed kebab and unlimited amount of nan bread.

Nessie Hunt @ Loch Ness...

Went to Fort Augustus first thing in the morning. Planned to take the boat ride there, but the boating company needs at least 12 person for the tour. So we went around the town for a while and went straight to Drumnadrochit (pronounced Drama-drok-kit). Took the boat ride there instead on a boat called "Nessie Hunter". The boat took us around the lake for an hour and pass by Urquhart Castle.

Then we went to Plodda Falls near a village called Tomich. They had build a viewing platform that is above this 40m falls. Then we headed towards Inverness for dinner. As we arrived there at night, all of the main attraction are already closed. We only manage to photograph the Inverness castle from a distance.

On our way back to the hostel, my sat nav took us on a very narrow road for about 40 miles which was on the other side of Loch Ness.

Fort Williams...

Left Glasgow at 8 am and reached Fort Williams at noon. Checked in at The Smiddy Bunkhouse & Blacksmiths Backpackers Hostel.



Went to Nevis Range and took a sky gondola to the top of  Aonach Mor. This mountain was next to Corn Mor Dearg and next to it was the Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British isles which stood at 1,344 meters (4,409 ft) above sea level. The local people are really proud of this even though this mountain is a dwarf compared to  Mount Kinabalu in Sabah (4,095 m).

Then we went to Mallaig via "The Road to the Isles" route - claimed to have the most spectacular scenery in the world and it was. Took a ferry to the Armadale in the Isle of Skye.

Scotland, Here We Come...

Jauhnya perjalanan...

1,052 miles, 21 hours 15 min driving...

Today, at 4 pm, Usman, Athar & I will go to a 3 day trip to Scotland. We've rented a car to go there.

Travel itinerary:
  • 6/10: Loughborough - Glasgow -> Stay at Travelodge
  • 7/10: Glasgow - Fort William - Mallaig -> Stay at backpackers lodge
  • 8/10: Fort Williams - Fort Augustus - Inverness -> Stay at backpackers lodge
  • 9/10: Fort Williams - Edinburgh - Newcastle Upon Tyne - Loughborough
Hope the weather there will be nice...
